Classes are run by Janine Nelson. Janine makes mosaics and has a business called Smashing Chintz.  She has been based at Lewisham Arthouse since 1997.  She started specialising in using broken china plates to mosaic with after inheriting a mosaic pot her great grandmother made.  Janine has run mosaic workshops at the Barbican Centre and The Make Lounge.
Weekend Workshops

Make a modern item of memory ware

Have you broken a favourite piece of china?  Would you like to make something new with it?  Do you have a collection of pebbles, trinkets or glass beads that you would like to do something with? Make a very special and personal mosaic mirror frame which incorporates a personal selection of objects.

In the first session we will use the direct method to mosaic the mirror frame.  In the second session we will grout and finish the mirror ready for hanging on the wall.

£45
Each workshop runs over 2 sessions:

Saturday 5th July (10am-1pm) and Saturday 12th July (2-4pm)

Table - 6th November until 4th December

Make an unusual small round mosaic table suitable for indoor use using a range of recycled materials or personal memorabilia.  Make your table a talking point over a cup of coffee!

£60 (5 weeks)

£105 for both projects (10 weeks)

Bring your own plant container or table to mosaic or use the ones provided.  Tools, equipment and basic materials are available to use during the evening.

Collect personal items to include in the mosaics, for example broken china, pebbles, shells, trinkets, buttons, beads.  Objects can be recycled and reused in mosaic – items made from glass, metal, ceramic and plastic can be used and do not have to be completely flat e.g. cutlery, broken mugs….
