Rosey Prince’s work is a response to the changing nature of the urban  and industrial landscape and concerns the deterioration and appropriation of buildings, spaces and objects.  Libraries, schools, hospitals, swimming baths built in an era of philanthropy and social responsibility; warehouses and factories, remnants of a manufacturing past; parks and open spaces once considered public. 

These have been squatted, turned into galleries and artists’ studios, redeveloped and converted into housing and offices.The work is not supposed to be a judgement but a reflection or a record on the changing preoccupations of society and the implications on the environment and on the lives of the people who live in it.

Prince is currently working on a series of river-related pieces including a series on the Woolwich Ferry. One of the ferries currently in use is named after the nineteenth-century trade unionist and Labour MP John Burns who described the River Thames as ‘liquid history’.
